Lead Data Scientist - Global Finance

At a glance

ABN AMRO Clearing N.V. (AACB) is building a dedicated RegTech (Regulatory Technology) team within our core Data Science team, and we are looking for a hands-on Lead Data Scientist to take the helm. This new team of data scientists will focus exclusively on developing data science solutions for regulatory reporting. Do you want to work in a data science team that focuses on the financial markets and the clearing industry in an international environment? With our global network of offices in ten countries and close connections to all major exchanges, you'll have the chance to work with leading trading firms across four continents. We welcome applications from individuals eager to contribute to our dynamic team.

Your job

As the Lead Data Scientist – RegTech, you will offer technical leadership, hands-on development, and strategic guidance while ensuring that the data science solutions are scalable, ready for production, and aligned with regulatory requirements. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, regulatory experts, compliance officers, and business stakeholders to enhance our regulatory processes. With 6.1 billion transactions cleared annually and peak volumes reaching up to 51 million transactions per day, AACB generates a substantial amount of data. The aim is to develop state of the art technology that is scalable for both data volume and application purposes, supported by our existing infrastructure.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technical vision and roadmap of the data science RegTech team and develop solutions in collaboration with professionals from different domains, such as engineering, legal, compliance, regulatory, and finance, within a diverse and multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities:
•    Be the owner of the end-to-end lifecycle of data science solutions, from research and prototyping to deployment in our production environments.
•    Engage with senior management, compliance officers, regulatory experts and other key stakeholders to ensure data science initiatives align with business goals and regulatory standards.
•    Lead and mentor a team of data scientists.
•    Define and maintain the team’s roadmap, making sure projects align with priorities and long-term goals
•    Design the technical architecture for data science solutions, ensuring scalability, performance and reliability.
•    Implement MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines and model versioning, while developing monitoring frameworks to detect bias, drift, and data corruption in production models.
•    Continuously optimize models to improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
•    Introduce GenAI/LLM tools to support the RegTech vision.
•    Translate regulatory guidelines (EMIR, MIFID and SFTR) to data science solutions while keeping up to date with data science developments in the regulatory space. For this, ABN AMRO has the network and skills to support you.

Positioning in the organization

You'll be joining a vibrant group of people in the Global Finance Data Science team in Amsterdam. Reporting to the Global CFO, you'll collaborate closely with regional finance teams and other departments, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to our innovative projects. Join us and be part of a team where your ideas can truly make an impact!
