Internship Collateral Management Clearing
At a glance
ABN AMRO Clearing Bank (AACB) is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe. AACB has been designated as systemically important with respect to the securities domain. As such, it is closely monitored by Regulators and Central Banks and being “In control” is therefore critical with regards to all processes within AACB. The departments Treasury & Securities, Borrowing and Lending (SBL) keep a watch on the banks liquidity position and ensures that sufficient liquidity and collateral is on deposit. The department develops and executes the Treasury & SBL policies in order to minimize liquidity risks and maximize profit while maintaining the balance in the interests of the customer and the bank, where the customer’s wishes and needs are key.
Your job
AACB has a wide range of products and clients which trade on 160+ exchanges around the globe. As a General Clearing Member, AACB has the obligation to settle transactions to the Central Counterparties (CCPs) and Over-The-Counter (OTC) counterparties. Our trading department (Securities Finance) is in charge of covering the short sale transactions from our clients by borrowing equities and/or ETFs in the lending market so that our obligation to settle short selling transactions can be fulfilled in time. The exposures arising from these activities need to be collateralized with either cash or non-cash collateral in a timely manner. As a member of the collateral team, you are our face to our street side counterparties and internal stakeholders to make sure all our obligations are made on time and in the most (cost) efficient way possible.
Your working environment
You are part of the Treasury/Collateral team from AACB consisting of 9 FTE. This team is part of the department Treasury & Securities Finance which is divided in 5 different departments: Treasury/Collateral, Securities Finance, Securities Borrowing & Lending, SF Post Trade Support (PTS) and Commodity Repo Services (CRS). You are working together closely with the four other departments to cover the exposures as efficient as possible and at the same time minimizing the risk for AACB.
Your profile
- Relevant study, preferable in economics or finance.
- Good communication and networking skills.
- You keep your head cool under stress and time pressure.
- You possess excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- You work accurately.
- Knowledge of programming languages like VBA or Python
