Product Owner Market Data

At a glance

Are you socially aware as well as curious and inquisitive? Do you have the desire to work in the largest dealing room in continental Europe? Global Markets as part of Corporate Banking may be the perfect fit for you. Located at Zuidas in Amsterdam, you’ll find the most dynamic and challenging work-environment that ABN AMRO has to offer in the middle of the complex world of financial products.

Your job

As Product Owner Market Data within the Grid Financial Markets, you are the product owner for the Real Time Market Data and the Reference Market Data solutions of the entire bank. Together with your teams you ensure that the interests of clients, stakeholders and the bank are properly balanced by creating business value and whilst staying compliant with the relevant procedures, regulations, and internal policies. You steer the teams on achieving forward-looking objectives linked to the strategy of Global Markets, Treasury, Clearing, Wealth Management, Risk and ABN AMRO at large. You use your subject matter expertise and agile/scrum experience to achieve these objectives.

Working environment

As a Product Owner you work in the Cross Product Value Chain which is part of the Grid Financial Markets. The Grid is part of Product Strategy, Management and Control Markets and consists at this moment of 7 department of which four value chains, the Data Domain Markets Support & Oversight team, a Data Products management team and one Advanced Analytics team. Three of the value chains are responsible for a product type (i.e. FX & Commodities, Credits & Rates and Securities Finance, Equities & Treasury) and one value chain is supportive of the other three value chains (Cross Product).

The Cross Product value chain is responsible for the implementation of the generic capabilities for our stakeholders like Market Data and Regulatory Reporting. The value chain is end-to-end responsible. This means the team designs, develops, chooses, implements, and maintains processes, organization, and technology themselves. The value chain consists of 1 Lead Product Owner, 2 Product Owners and 4 Business Developers. Next to this the market data hub, responsible for the banks market data contracts, is part of the Cross Product Value Chain. You are the product owner of multiple development teams which support systems for the value chain. Your teams support among others systems like Reuters, Bloomberg, PVS and GIDS. As product owner you report directly to the grid owner.

You have an ongoing dialogue with relevant stakeholders from business and IT that enables you to create a product vision and set priorities based on their interests. This will result in roadmaps, up to date backlogs and release planning. You work closely with the development teams, who refine the items in the backlog. You use the backlog as the basis for prioritising their work. Together with the team you are responsible for developing, testing, and releasing of new functionality into production but also responsible for the stability of applications and timely handling of incidents. Together with your development teams and in some cases Business Developers you continuously strive to improve the applications and processes within the value chain to help achieve the Bank’s strategic ambitions.

Your profile

You take a keen interest in the dynamics of financial markets and have a good understanding of the processes around market data; you can level with the specialists and their expertise, and you are a trusted sparring partner for the value chain. You find it important that the experts in your teams get the best out of themselves and each other and you empower the teams with clear scope & mandate to do so. You are involved and motivated and able to achieve goals. You feel comfortable keeping relevant stakeholders connected.
