Department and Team Culture
The Compliance department is a diverse and multi-functional team, you will be working within a team that is critical to the bank’s operations, often involving balancing the business objectives with the need to follow regulatory requirements, making attention to detail and good communication critical. Our aim is to protect the bank, our colleagues and our customers, and enable sustainable business growth, by providing effective oversight, insight, advice and constructive challenge on Compliance and Behavioural Risks.
As a summer intern, you will spend your time with our UK team, building a solid foundation in Compliance and helping deliver our strategy.
What will your responsibilities look like?
You’ll be supporting multiple business lines across the entire UK branch. During your internship, you will get hands on experience and may be involved with:
- One week shadowing the UK Country Head of Compliance
- Policy reviews and investigating associated breaches and escalations to identify themes and create recommendations to increase efficiency.
- Maintaining the barriers between private side and public side teams.
- Delivery of Compliance Induction training.
- Production of regulatory reporting and routine notifications.
- Assisting with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) tasks.
- Performance of routine risk management activities across all business and support units, to assess the operating effectiveness of key controls.
- Organisation and maintenance of staff training records.
- Maintenance and analysis of conflicts of interests and personal account dealing records in relevant systems and assisting with associated paperwork
- Assisting with the drafting and updating of UK Compliance Department procedures.
- Production of Monthly and Quarterly Management Information.
- Tracking of management action plans
