.NET Developer

At a glance

At ABN AMRO we are looking for a .NET Developer to join us in the re-design and transformation of our Asset Liability Management (ALM) technology domain. ALM can be described as a bank within the bank, as our department sits at the heart of the bank and is responsible for managing the total balance sheet in relation to interest rate, liquidity, and capital risk. You’ll be joining a team of versatile engineers and business developers, working in a dynamic and Agile DevOps environment to deliver the best possible results for our stakeholders, who include the board of directors and other business segments of the bank as well as external supervisory authorities like the DNB and ECB.

Your job

You will be working as an .NET Developer in a DevOps environment, helping to analyze, develop and maintain applications based on C#, T-SQL and PaaS for the bank's ALM department. Your actual daily activities could vary from sprint to sprint but will typically include:

  • Re-designing, implementing and testing ETL processes using Azure native tooling
  • Improving test automation (shift-left mindset) and simplifying our development landscape
  • Performing daily, weekly and/or monthly runs (OPS) and improving/automating these processes
  • Supporting our stakeholders with data analysis to understand the impact of process changes
  • Building Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • Taking ownership and solving incidents together with your team
  • Exchanging technical knowledge and learning from each other
  • Collaborating with other departments within the bank

Next to joining your direct team you will also become part of the C# Chapter. As a member you will:

  • Engage in Workshops and Hackathons: participate in and contribute to our regularly organized workshops and hackathons, designed to foster innovation and continuous learning.
  • Discuss and Enhance Code Quality: collaborate with peers to discuss and maintain the highest standards of code quality.
  • Work on Coding Exercises: engage in collective coding exercises that challenge and refine our technical skills.
  • Contribute to Curriculum Development: play an active role in determining the curriculum for our chapter's ongoing education and skill development.

Working environment

Our working environment is one where our IT Engineers maintain high standards and expect the same level of excellence from their peers (SOLID principles and automated testing are engrained in our DNA). We do not prefer cutting corners when writing software. Our department has an open and very social culture. We value interpersonal skills at least as much as technical skills. You will get to work in:

  • One of the most innovative and front-running IT departments of ABN AMRO using the latest tools and technology, including Azure cloud and AI.
  • A multidisciplinary and multicultural self-organizing DevOps team (typically 5-9 people per team), in an Agile-Scrum environment
  • An open and highly autonomous culture where you are responsible for your goals and encouraged to give and receive feedback
  • An informal atmosphere with plenty of room for fun (movie/gaming events, monthly drinks, team outings)

Your profile

You have experience in multiple technology stacks with the ambition to become a truly T-shaped .NET Developer.

Mandatory skills:

  • At least 3 years of direct IT-related work experience
  • Experience with the latest .NET versions (preferably .NET 8) and Azure services (such as Azure Functions)
  • Experience with automated testing (unit/integration testing)
  • Knowledge/ affinity with Azure infra
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data analysis
  • Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • An Agile/DevOps background with 'T-shaped' skills and a shift-left mindset
  • Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Teamwork gives you energy. Help and coach teammates, present and participate in workshops.
  • Bring a cooperative and enthusiastic mindset, demonstrating a genuine willingness to become an integral part of our group.
  • Be ready to step out of your comfort zone, including presenting your ideas and work to the team and the department.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with test containers
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture

We are offering

  • The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
  • Possibility to work from home (in consultation with your team and depending on your position).
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands.
  • An excellent pension scheme.
